Finally had the chance to check this place out when I saw less than 10 people in the queue. I waited no longer than 10 minutes. They had two choices, the special or the vegetables. I went with the special.
The special ten don (two pieces of chicken breasts, two long beans, two prawns,a piece of sweet potato, a piece of mushroom and a tempura egg) came with chawanmushi and miso soup. Pickles were free flow. All in was around $16.
The ten don was drizzled with a sweet sauce making the rice go down easy. The molten egg yolk also helped. The batter was light but still slightly soggy. I suppose they did spend quite a bit of time assembling the bowl.
Honestly the ingredients weren’t fantastic and I don’t really get the hype behind this place. It was a satisfying ten don but nothing more.
If we weren’t strictly comparing with other ten dons, I would much rather hit up Nadai Fujisoba Ni-hachi at the nearby 100am mall for its deep fried fare.
